The implementation of the first phase of the safe closure project for the Al-Salam public dump has been completed in May 2024. The project is called “The first safe closure project for a waste dump in Egypt,” aiming in its first phase, to get rid of the negative effects of random dumps, while rehabilitate the site, implement the infrastructure for investment in a public park, and build an electricity station using biogas in the second phase of the project. The plants for processing and producing electricity from biogas generated from the dump, which will be supplied, are part of a comprehensive strategy to make the most of available resources and achieve environmental sustainability.
